Hemianthus Callitrichoides 'Cuba', also known as dwarf baby tears or simply HC, is one of the most popular carpeting plants in the aquarium hobby, and certainly the aquascaping world. It is one of the smallest plants in the world, and creeps/spreads over the bottom with tiny round leaves.
Although it is not considered a 'difficult' plant, it does require conditions suitable for it to grow. This includes full spectrum lighting, good water circulation, fertilizer, quality substrate and CO2 supplementation. Ideally this would be through a CO2 setup, but can be done using liquid CO2. Once conditions are suitable, the resulting carpet formed is extremely nice.
Of note, regular trimming to keep the carpet compact is important as otherwise the lower leaves will not get enough light, which result in root death.
